MATERIALS:
  • Beanie Babies of animals (bird, spider, dog, cat, fly horse)
  • Old woman doll
  • Big dress for dress up
  • Display Board with old woman with open mouth
  • Digital Camera
  • Camcorder
VOCABULARY & GESTURES
  1. Pajarito
    • Make opening and closing motion with index finger and thymb in front of your mouth. Say pio pio
  2. Araña
    • The little fingers lock together as the other finger wiggle while the hands move forward. The fingers represent the legs of a spider
  3. Perro
    • One hand pats the lap and then snaps the fingers.
  4. Gato
    • Say Miau
  5. Mosca
    • Flick and imaginary fly of the back of your hand
  6. panza
    • The fingers move down and up in a motion similar to the flapping of a horse's ears.
  7. Vaca
    • Say Muuuuhhh
  8. Comer
    • Pretend to hold an imaginary spoon and bring to mouth
  9. Boca
    • Point to mouth
  10. Barr iga/ panza
    • Point to belly
  11. Abrió
    • Hold palm of hands together and then open them
  12. Creció
    • hand springs up through the earth to show that something is growing.

    • exagerate and pretend to swallow something big. Make swallowing noise
INTRODUCTION:
  • Introduce vocabulary words through TPR practice.
  • Assess students' comprehension through class, group and individual responses to "circle" questioning.
  • Use doll and students to act out chant
  • Have one student put on enormous dress. Another student pretends to be the animal (holding the Beanie Babie) and gets "swallowed" (Beanie Babie ) into the dress.
  • Chant song in different tones with students copying your tone or responding with the opposite emotion
    • High / Low
    • Coughing
    • Laughing
    • Slow / Fast
    • Happy / sad
    • Angry / happy
  • Have a volunteer student be the chanter
Technology
  • Make digital movie
    • Take digital pictures for each step of the chant
    • Use Windows movie maker to create movie
    • Record and add chant to each pictures
  • Record video with student performing song
