LESSON TIPS - GAMES & ACTIVITIES- VOCABULARY

Shhhh

You should have at least three vocabulary words to review. This can either be played with a prop representing the vocabulary word or with a motion or gesture associated with the word.

You will need to explain to the children the rules first:

  1. Teacher will show the prop and say the word associated with it.
  2. Class will echo the vocabulary word ONLY if it matches the prop or gesture shown.
  3. If teacher does not say the correct vocabulary word that represents the prop or the gesture, the class has to be entirely quiet.
  4. If someone still echoes the word the teacher has, even though it did not match than the entire class will put the pointer in front of their mouth and hiss " Shhhhh"

This is a fun game that all my levels (Pre-K through 6th Grade love to play)
After a few minutes of wearming up as a class, I call students up individually to sit in the "silla caliente". They then have to echo or stay silent for me individually otherwise the rest of the class will "Shhh" them and they kicked off the "silla caliente"
