LESSON TIPS - GAMES & ACTIVITIES- VOCABULARY

Response

I teach my students different responses during different times of the year. I can switch them at any time, which keeps them on their toes, because they have to be careful not to wish me "Salud" (Bless you) instead of "de nada" (you're welcome), when I pretend to sneeze. At the end of the year the responses become automatic for them and they don't even have to think about them anymore.

When I say my part of the phrase/ verse / refrain / saying / the class has to respond in unison, after that it has to be completely silent. I use this as a classroom management tool and it has worked very well with my classes (K-6 th ).

While in October they needed to respond with "No tengo miedo" after I scared them with an unexpected "Booooo", I will now wish them "Feliz Navidad" and they will respond with "Feliz Año Nuevo".

We practice this quiet a bit during classroom time and after that it is fair play for me to say it to individual students in the hallway, lunchroom, arrival/ dismissal, when I see them outside of school, etc.
