LESSON TIPS - GAMES & ACTIVITIES

HATSCHI PATSCHI

The children sit in a circle (Chairs or carpet squares). There is one less chair or carpet square than students.
One child is to leave the room. We say good-by with a loud "Adios" !While that student is outside, the teacher picks another student to be the assigned "Hatschi Patschi".
Student number one is called back and greeted with a "Bienvenido" or "Entra". Student number one then enters the circle. His/her job is to try to find out who Hatschi Patschi is.
To do that he/she has to ask individual students a particular question (Agreed on before) , like ¿Cómo te llamas?, ¿Cuántos años tienes? ¿Cómo estás? etc.
The student who is asked will answer truthfully according to the question UNTIL the student who is Hatschi Patschi is asked.
He/she after a dramatic silent moment, pretending that he/she is still thinking about the answer says loud HATSCHI PATSCHI.
That is the signal for ALL students (including studnet number one ) to get out of their chairs and walk (not run) across the circle to find another chair.
One person will not find a chair and be the next student to leave the room.

Rules to make this game safer (!):

  • No running to another chair
  • No throwing yourself on the floor, while crossing the circle
  • No bumping in to anyone
  • You cannot stay in the same chair or the two chairs to your right or your left
  • If teacher sees that you are on porpose not trying to find a chair in the end, you will not be picked to leave the room
